Winterize your home – prevent frozen pipes

September and October are the two months of the year that all homeowners need to be on top of their game or it’s going to cost them some money down the road. In Colorado, you just never know what the weather will be this time of year.

Be smart and disconnect those garden hoses today so you don’t have a burst pipe next spring.  Early season freezes will get you every time so be mindful of the weather forecasters.  Hose faucets are a common Denver Metro Plumbing problem.

The middle of October is a good time to be thinking about draining down that sprinkler system.  Make sure the shut off valve for the sprinkler system is shutting off completely.  Leave the drain open all winter. If water continues to drip out of the sprinkler drain. then the shut-off valve is not shutting off all the way and needs to be replaced.  Certified Plumbing Company can certainly take care of that for you.

If you aren’t sure where the drain is, call Certified Plumbing Company at 303.795.7498 and we’ll see if we can figure it out over the phone.  If this shut-off can’t be located over the phone, we’ll be more than happy to assist you by coming to your home.

Though we don’t blow out sprinkler systems we do drain them down if you have a system 10 years or newer that doesn’t require a compressor to blow it out.

Eliminate the fuss and muss today by properly winterizing your hose faucets, vacuum breaker, shut offs and sprinkler systems.
